Site-Drill — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 October 2026 · Applies to the website rbaiforge.github.io/site-drill and the Android app
Site-Drill has no accounts, no ads and asks for no permissions. Your answers, notes and progress stay on your device. The only data that leaves it is anonymous usage counts and, on Android, crash reports, described below. Nothing you type is ever sent anywhere.
Your progress stays on your device
Your drill history, scores, review schedule, typed answers, notes and settings are stored only on your device (in your browser's storage on the web, in the app's private storage on Android). We have no server and no account system, and we do not upload, sell or share this data. You can export your progress as a file and import it on another device from within Site-Drill, and you can delete everything by clearing the site's data in your browser or the app's data on Android, or by uninstalling the app.
Anonymous usage counts
To learn which parts of Site-Drill help and which don't, we count a small, fixed set of actions, for example "a drill started", "an answer was scored in the 50–100 km band" or "the map-error link was opened". Every count carries only a fixed choice from a list or a number: never text you typed, never a site you answered, never your name, email or location. We also record which product (Site-Drill) and platform (web or Android) the count came from.
| Where | Service | When |
|---|---|---|
| Android app | Google Firebase Analytics | From the first launch, unless you are in the EU/EEA, the UK or Switzerland (or your device’s time zone doesn’t tell us): there it stays off until you tap “Allow”. |
| Website | Google Analytics | Loaded only after your first scored answer, and in the EU/EEA, the UK and Switzerland (or when your time zone doesn’t tell us) only if you choose “Accept” in the consent bar. |
On Android, Site-Drill never collects the advertising ID, never enables ad personalisation and has no advertising features. Firebase assigns the app installation a random identifier, which is not linked to you. You can change your choice at any time in About & Settings. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy; it is kept according to the data-retention setting of our Google Analytics property.
Crash reports (Android)
If the Android app crashes or hits an error it can't recover from, Google Firebase Crashlytics sends a crash report: the technical error, the app version, the device model and Android version, and the installation's random identifier. When Site-Drill records a handled error itself, it sends only a short code (for example “storage_write in drill”), never your content. Crash reports are kept for 90 days.
Feature settings (Android)
The Android app asks Google Firebase Remote Config for a few settings (such as the number of sites per drill), so we can adjust them without a new release. If the request fails, Site-Drill uses its built-in defaults.
Links that leave Site-Drill
“Report a bug / Suggest”, “Report a site/map error” and the sources shown with each answer open other websites in your browser. Those sites have their own privacy policies. Opening a report page tells that page only which product and, for a map error, which site the report is about.
Permissions
Site-Drill asks for no permissions. You locate a site by tapping the map; it never uses your location, camera, contacts or files. Exports go through your browser's download or your phone's share sheet.
Children
Site-Drill is made for adults preparing for history exams. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
