ReactCam — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 September 2026
ReactCam has no accounts and never uploads your videos, audio or captions. Your recordings stay on your device until you choose to share them. The only data that leaves your device is limited crash, diagnostics and usage information, sent through Google Firebase and described below.
What ReactCam does with your data
Your videos, photos and audio stay on your device. Recording, captions and video export all run on your phone or tablet. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else.
Captions are generated on your device. Speech recognition runs locally using an offline model. Your voice is never uploaded to a server for transcription.
We have no account system. There is nothing to sign up for, so we hold no name, email address, phone number or profile.
Sharing is something you initiate. When you tap a share button, your video is handed to the app you chose — Instagram, YouTube, or whatever you pick from the system share sheet. From that point the receiving app's own privacy policy applies, not ours. We are not party to that transfer and do not see it.
Permissions, and why each one exists
| Permission | Why ReactCam asks |
|---|---|
| Camera | To record your reaction. Used only while you are recording. |
| Microphone | To record your voice alongside it. |
| Screen recording | Only when you start a screen capture yourself, and only for that session. Android shows its own confirmation every time, which we cannot bypass. |
| Display over other apps | To draw your camera bubble and frame on top of the video you are reacting to in another app. Nothing is read from the app underneath. |
| Foreground service (camera, microphone, screen recording) | Android requires a visible, ongoing notification for recording that continues while you use another app. These permissions allow that notification-backed recording session and nothing else. |
| Notifications | To show a recording notification with a Stop button while screen capture runs in the background. Android requires this for the feature to work. |
| Internet | Only for the crash, diagnostics and configuration services described below. Your videos are never uploaded. |
| Network state | Used by the same Firebase libraries to avoid sending while you are offline. |
ReactCam asks for no gallery or storage permission at all. When you import a video, Android's own file picker hands ReactCam that one file and nothing else. The app has never been able to browse, scan or catalogue your photos and videos, and it does not ask to.
Diagnostics
ReactCam includes Google's Firebase Crashlytics, Analytics and Remote Config:
- Crashlytics sends crash reports and diagnostics — that the app crashed, where in its code, and the device model and Android version.
- Analytics sends basic usage events — for example that the app was opened or an export finished.
- Remote Config downloads settings for the app, so a problem can be switched off without a new release.
These services use identifiers that Firebase assigns to the app installation on your device. They are not linked to your name, email or any account — ReactCam has none. This tells us the app is broken so we can fix it; it is not used for advertising.
This never includes your videos, your audio, your captions, or the text you type. These reports are handled under Google's Privacy Policy and Firebase's data-handling terms.
Children
ReactCam is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. Beyond the diagnostics above, we do not collect personal information from anyone.
Payment
There is none. ReactCam is free, has no advertising, no in-app purchases and no paid tier. We have no billing relationship with you and therefore hold no payment information.
Deleting your data
Your reactions live in ReactCam's own storage on your device. Delete them from inside the app, or uninstall it — uninstalling removes everything ReactCam created. There is no server-side copy of your videos, audio or captions, because they are never uploaded.
Diagnostics reports are kept by Google Firebase for our project. They are not tied to a name or account, so we cannot pick out one person's reports; if you want to ask about them, write to the address below.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and a material change will be noted in the app's release notes.
